The Tensor SIDIS Workshop & b1/Azz Collaboration Meeting focuses on the ongoing preparation for the approved JLab Hall C experiments b1 and Azz, which utilize inclusive scattering from a tensor polarized target, along with the emerging new physics program to extend these studies to Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS) with tensor-polarized targets. Discussions will cover experimental readiness, analysis strategies, and the underlying theoretical framework. This effort will bring together theorists and experimentalists to coordinate preparations, analysis efforts, motivate key measurements and to guide future plans.

Study of the Deuteron Structure in the Basis Light-Front Quantization Approach

The deuteron serves as an ideal system for investigating the strong interactions among quarks and gluons inside nuclear matter. Within the light-front framework, we treat the deuteron as an effective mixture of color-singlet–singlet and octet–octet clusters, and examine how these non-nucleonic components influence its properties.

In the Basis Light-Front Quantization approach, we extend the deuteron to the six-quark and six-quark-plus-one-dynamical-gluon Fock sectors. Under this truncation, we include the kinetic term, the light-front quark-gluon vertex interaction, and the relevant instantaneous interactions in the deuteron Hamiltonian. Using the deuteron light-front wave functions obtained by diagonalizing the light-front Hamiltonian, we study the contributions from different color components, as well as the electromagnetic form factors and parton distribution functions (PDFs).
