Description

With evolution of technology, accelerator RF systems are becoming more and more complex and dense. At the same time, requirements for performance, precision or noise floor are getting increasingly tighter. Electromagnetic compatibility and signal integrity must be part of the design right from the beginning regardless if is it a 1 MW RF amplifier or an FPGA sitting on a 10 layer printed board.

In this tutorial, we will recap basic principles of EMC and signal integrity and discuss some of the most popular problems on signal routing, printed boards, decoupling, cables, connectors, grounding, filtering or shielding.
