Description
Within the framework of the SOLEIL upgrade project towards SOLEIL II, a compact Digital Low Level Radio Frequency (DLLRF) system based on the MicroTCA platform is under development. This new system aims to enhance operational flexibility and simplify maintenance compared to the existing analog LLRF. The design originates from a 1.3 GHz DLLRF system developed for the LUCRECE project. Operating at a 10 MHz intermediate frequency (IF) and integrating a ZynqUltraScale+ (ZU+) processing board, the architecture is easily adaptable to any other RF system.
The DLLRF was successfully tested on the machine, achieving excellent performance and high accuracy in voltage and phase control. The integrated tuner was also successfully validated. In addition, the Tango control system was recently validated, using ChimeraTK firmware from DESY. The DLLRF will ultimately control the complete RF plant environment. Its installation on the SOLEIL Booster cavity is planned before the end of the year, followed by a progressive migration of the remaining cavities to this new system.
