Coming to Ghent

By Plane

Ghent is located about 65km west of the international airport in Zaventem Brussels Airport (BRU). From the airport, Ghent is easily reachable by train, leaving directly from the airport's own railway station, Brussel-Nationaal-Luchthaven.  Take any train that serves "Gent-Sint-Pieters" train station.

Brussels South Charleroi airport (CRL), about 100 km from Ghent, is served by low-cost carriers.  From the airport there is a direct shuttle to Ghent rougly every two hours [webpage] which drops you at the central train station (Gent-Sint-Pieters).  Alternatively there are shuttles to the Brussels-South train station every 30 minutes [webpage].  From Brussels-South there are regular trains to Gent-Sint-Pieters train station (~35 minutes travel).

By Train

From France (Paris, Lille), the UK (London), Germany (Köln/Frankfurt) and the Netherlands (Amsterdam) there are high-speed train connections serving Brussels or Antwerp.  Regular connections will take you on to Gent-Sint-Pieters station.

Note: For people staying at Castelnou hotel, it might be convenient to arrive at train station Gent Dampoort, which is within walking distance.

By Car

Ghent is located on the intersection of two major European motorways: the E17 connects Northern Europe to the South, and the E40 runs from the North Sea right across to Eastern Europe.
