Description
The quark mass and strong coupling constant parameters of the QCD Lagrangian are free parameters in the Standard Model and can only be determined by comparison of theory and experiment.
Lattice QCD gives us direct access to the QCD Lagrangian and so is well-suited to the determination of these parameters. I will review the methods used to date, the results obtained and prospects for future improvement.
