Next generation nuclear physics with JLab12 and EIC

US/Eastern
Florida International University

Florida International University

Miami, FL
Description
The aim of the meeting is to discuss/assess the scientific opportunities in high-energy electron scattering from nuclei with the JLab 12GeV Upgrade and a future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). Particular attention will be given to experiments with next-generation detectors allowing for partial or full detection of the nuclear final states. Specific goals are: -- to bring together the communities pursuing studies of light nuclei (high-momentum components, spectator tagging, coherent processes) and heavy nuclei (parton propagation, hadronization, medium effects); -- to enable a common perspective on nuclear final-state experiments with JLab 12 GeV, EIC and other facilities. Suggested topics include: Neutron structure with inclusive and tagged measurements Nuclear partons at large, intermediate, and small x Nuclear gluons with heavy quark probes High-momentum components of nuclei and short-range correlations Non-nucleonic degrees of freedom with tagged measurements Final-state interactions and spin-orbit phenomena in eA scattering Vector and tensor polarized deuteron physics Coherent processes with light nuclei Medium modification of hadronic properties Color propagation and hadronization in medium Nuclear TMDs and partonic pT broadening Centrality signatures in eA scattering with heavy ions Forward detection with EIC Novel experimental techniqes Organizers: Will Brooks (U. F. Santa Maria, Valparaiso, Chile) Raphael Dupre (CNRS/IN2P3 Orsay and U. Paris Sud, France) Charles Hyde (Old Dominion U., Norfolk) Misak Sargsian (Florida International U.)
