The 12th International Workshop on Chiral Dynamics (CD2027) will take place on 26-30 July 2027 at Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. It will be hosted jointly by ODU and the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) in Newport News, Virginia.
The Chiral Dynamics workshops explore the physics of hadrons and nuclei as emergent phenomena of Quantum Chromodynamics at low energies and large distances, where the effective dynamics is governed by chiral symmetry breaking and other nonperturbative effects. Subjects include the physics of pions as Goldstone bosons, meson-baryon interactions, low-energy scattering processes (strong, electromagnetic, weak), large-distance nucleon structure (mass, spin, mechanical properties), nuclear few-body systems and reactions, effective field theory and amplitude methods, connections with lattice QCD, and AI/ML methods for theory and data analysis. The workshops cover theoretical and experimental research and are a major forum in this field of nuclear physics. The series started with a workshop at MIT in 1994; recent meetings took place in Pisa (2015), Durham, NC (2018), Beijing (2021), and Bochum (2024).
