Description
Particle identification in the ePIC detector relies partly on the detection of internally reflected Cherenkov photons produced in electron-ion collisions. This work compares two candidate MCP-PMT photon detectors by characterising their timing resolution, gain, quantum efficiency and crosstalk to determine their suitability for the ePIC DIRC detector component. We present the current progress of these measurements, discuss the performance of the detectors studied so far and outline the remaining work to complete this evaluation.
