DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Christian Weiss (Jefferson Lab)\n\nThe Electron-Ion 
 Collider (EIC) will enable next-generation experiments in high-energy elec
 tron scattering on light nuclei (A = 2\,3\,4\,..)\, including polarized be
 ams and detection of the nuclear breakup state\, extending the fixed-targe
 t program at Jefferson Lab 6/12 GeV. Such experiments address fundamental 
 science questions such as the spin structure of the neutron\, the QCD orig
 in of nuclear interactions\, the distributions of quarks and gluons in nuc
 lei\, and quantum phenomena in coherent and diffractive processes. Their r
 ealization requires specific theoretical\, experimental\, and technical me
 thods\, which have been developed for other applications and need to be co
 mbined\, implemented\, and developed further.\nThe informal study group ai
 ms to train junior researchers in the specific theoretical and experimenta
 l methods for high-energy scattering on light nuclei\, and build a communi
 ty in light-ion physics with EIC. The target audience are graduate student
 s\, postdocs\, and researchers in theoretical and experimental nuclear phy
